Dental Emergency Tips
Tooth Knocked Out
Act fast and you will have a better chance of saving your tooth. Book an emergency dental appointment with the dentist straight away. Give the tooth a rinse with running water for a couple of seconds holding the tooth by the crown (upper section). If possible, place the tooth back into its socket or tuck into side of mouth until you get to the dentist for treatment. Otherwise, store the tooth in a container of milk or saliva and visit the dentist straight away.
With a cracked tooth it is important to get to the dentist straight away to avoid infection. It is possible to save the tooth with immediate dental treatment.
Book an emergency dental appointment with the dentist. Keep the chipped part of the tooth and take with you to the dentist.
If you are experiencing a toothache or any dental pain then you should book an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible to be treated before the issue becomes more critical. In the meantime while you are waiting for your appointment, you can try the following tips to prevent pain from worsening:
1. Avoid very hot, cold or sweet foods and drinks. 2. Take a pain killer such as Nurofen or Panadol which may help to provide fast pain relief. 3. A thorough rinse of the mouth using saltwater may prevent infections from getting worse.
Dislodged or Loose Teeth
Since the tooth is still partially attached to the nerves there is a good chance that it can be saved by your dentist. Book an emergency dental appointment and keep the tooth in place in your mouth. To minimise the pain carefully hold an ice pack to your mouth.
Lost Filling or Crown
Book an appointment with the dentist who will be able to repair the tooth by reattaching a new filling or crown.
