CEREC - Single Visit Dentistry

CEREC has allowed us to offer our patients single visit restorations, with the use of conventional materials. CEREC makes your visit to the dentist efficient, convenient, safe and means you only have to pay for the single appointment. CEREC also means that your visit is more comfortable as it means you can say good-bye to dental impressions and moulds. This modern treatment means you are treated quickly but quality is maintained throughout the process. CEREC’s success is evident world-wide as every 5 seconds a CEREC restoration is placed somewhere in the world.

CEREC means that you and your dentist are in control of you restoration, as they are created in-house. CEREC also means you can avoid grinding your natural teeth so the implant is best fitted and also avoids the need to polish the teeth.

The CEREC Machine

Using the CEREC machine, our dentists are able to create 3D digital images of a patient’s tooth and mouth. Our dentists can then digitally and accurately design your ceramic restoration and your durable, natural-looking crown is created inside the Sailor’s Bay practice.

What Happens In a Typical CEREC Appointment

Your tooth will firstly be prepared and a digital 3D scan will be taken of the tooth in question and the surrounding areas. The image may be viewed on screen by both dentist and patient so the dentist can better explain the treatment with visual assistance. The 3D scan will then help to create your crown or bridge and is designed in-practice.

The restoration is automatically produced from a solid ceramic block, giving a perfectly milled porcelain restoration. The restoration will be polished and fitted into place. The process generally takes about an hour.
